You know your business.
I'll make sure your technology works.
I help established businesses and new ventures turn product ideas into technology that works. I define what to build, choose who builds it, and stay accountable until it's live.
No pitch deck. An honest conversation about what you're trying to build.
Technology is where good businesses take expensive risks.
You've built a business that works. Now you need a product: a platform for your customers, a tool for your teams, a new digital line of business. The problem is that no one on your side of the table has done this before.
You can't judge what you're being sold.
Agency proposals all look similar. The estimates don't. You can't tell which one is right, or whether any of them are.
The project slips and you don't know why.
Deadlines move, costs creep, and every update sounds reasonable. By the time the problem is visible, it's expensive.
You end up owning technology you don't control.
The code, the servers and the knowledge sit with a vendor. Changing anything means going back to them.
Hiring a full-time CTO is a big bet.
It's expensive, it takes months, and if it's the wrong person, you've lost a year.

I'm on your side of the table.
I take the technology leader's seat in your business for as long as you need one. I don't sell you development hours. I make sure the right thing gets built, by the right people, at the right cost.
Shape the product
We turn your business idea into a clear product: what it must do, what it can wait on, how it should be built, and what it will realistically cost and take.
Pick the team
I help you pick the right agency or vendor, or hire your own team. I write the technical side of the contract so you own your code and aren't locked in.
Lead the build
I run delivery with your team or vendor. I review the work, make the technical calls and keep the project on track. You get updates in business language, not jargon.
Hand over
When the product is live, you get documentation, a team or vendor you can manage, and a roadmap for what comes next. The goal is independence, not dependence on me.
Who I work with
Established businesses building their first product
You run a profitable business in manufacturing, distribution, services, travel or real estate. Your next stage of growth needs a customer platform, an internal system or an app, and you want it done properly the first time.
Business heads launching something new
You're leading a new digital product or vertical inside a larger company. You have the mandate and the budget, but not a dedicated technology leader.
Founders whose build has stalled
Your product is late, over budget or unstable, and you need a senior person to find out why and fix it without starting again.
AI, where it earns its place.
Every product conversation now includes AI. Some of the time it's the right call, and some of the time it's an expensive distraction. I'll give you a straight answer on where AI genuinely makes your product better, cheaper to run or faster to build, and where simpler technology will do the job. When it fits, I'll build it in properly, with the costs and risks understood.
Products I've led
A few of the products I've taken from idea to launch, and the role I played in each.

Four missed launch dates. Then we shipped.
I audited a stalled health app, launched it within a month, and replaced an 18-person agency with an in-house team that shipped 1.8x faster.
CTO of RightLife

A new healthcare institution. A live student app for its very first batch.
As fractional CTO, I scoped a focused MVP, built in protection for proprietary lecture content, and led Reset's team to launch Stetho's student app in three months.
Fractional CTO

Five years later, they were still running the systems I designed.
At seed stage, I led product and architecture for Bijak's offline-first agri-trade app, built for low-end phones and patchy networks, and set up engineering processes that lasted.
Product and architecture lead

Three engineers. One year. A complete corporate travel platform.
I chose to build rather than buy, put together a lean in-house team, and led the creation of Reev's multi-tenant platform for booking, billing and reporting.
Fractional CTO

From spreadsheets to one system for 12,000+ workers.
I evaluated the market, chose an open-source platform and a delivery partner, and set the foundation for automating workforce and finance operations for 12,000+ blue-collar employees.

Three ways to start
CTO + Build
Most requestedOne accountable partner.
I lead, and my studio Reset builds it with you. This suits you if you'd rather not manage a separate vendor.
Product Blueprint
A fixed-scope first step, around 3–4 weeks.
We define the product, the architecture, the budget and the build plan. You leave with a document you can take to any vendor, whether or not we keep working together.
Fractional CTO
Ongoing, 1–2 days a week.
I lead your technology: vendors or team, delivery, technical decisions and reporting to leadership.

Not sure which fits? That's what the first conversation is for.

Hi, I'm Akshit.
You've seen the work. Here's a little about the person you'd be working with.
I spent 10 years in Delhi and two in Pune, and now live a happy life in Mumbai, where I'm a father to a three-year-old.
I like to unwind on a bike ride. I've travelled to many parts of the country on my bike, including Leh and Spiti. My proudest ride was a solo trip across India that covered 8,008 km.
Closer to home, I play badminton, and for the last year I've been learning golf.
Whether it's a long ride or a new product, I've learned the same thing: the ones that go well are planned by someone who asks the right questions before setting off. That's the part I enjoy most, and it's what I bring to the businesses I work with.
When you need hands as well as a head.
Reset is the studio I work through. When a client wants one accountable partner, Reset's team of designers and engineers builds the product under my direct leadership. There are no handoffs and no account managers between you and the person responsible.
Questions people ask
What does a fractional CTO actually do?
Everything a full-time technology leader would do (product decisions, architecture, vendors, hiring, delivery) for part of the week. You get senior judgment without a full-time salary or a long search.
We're not a tech company. Is this for us?
That's exactly who I work with best. You don't need to understand technology. You need someone accountable who does, and who can explain it in business terms.
Do you write the code yourself?
I'm hands-on in the decisions that matter: architecture, reviews and technical direction. The build is done by your team, a vendor we choose together, or Reset.
Will I have to use Reset to build?
No. Most engagements start with an independent recommendation. If another vendor or an in-house team is the better fit, I'll say so and help you work with them.
How long does an engagement last?
A Product Blueprint takes 3–4 weeks. Fractional CTO engagements usually run 6–12 months, until the product is live and you have a team or vendor that can carry it forward.
We already have an agency and the project is stuck. Can you help?
Yes. I'll review where things stand, find the real causes, and give you a plan: fix it with the current vendor, restructure the work, or change course.
Who owns the code and the product?
You do, always. Making sure of that is part of my job, starting with the contracts.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the scope and how much time you need. You'll get a fixed proposal after our first conversation, with no hourly surprises.
Do you work with companies outside India?
Yes. Most of my clients are in India, and I also work with international companies setting up an offshore development centre here.
Tell me what you're trying to build.
A 30-minute conversation about your idea or your stuck project, and an honest view on the right next step. Even if that step doesn't involve me.
